Bright Future Preschool is a private preschool, licensed by the State of Colorado. For nearly 20 years, we have offered a creative, hands-on, child centered program. We give preschoolers the skills they need to become successful readers and writers, preparing them for a lifetime of learning.
Shannon grew up in Westminster with her younger brother, mother, and father, who was a Denver firefighter for 32 years. She attended Northglenn High School. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Leo, and together they have two beautiful (now adult) children. Shannon began her teaching career in 1991 at Auraria Early Learning Center. When her children were young she cared for 6 little ones as licensed childcare provider. In 2005, Shannon opened Bright Future Preschool. Over the years she has enjoyed teaching countless families and creating a fun and loving community. In her spare time,
Shannon enjoys coaching springboard diving for Adams 12 and spending lots
of time at the family cabin.
“Teaching preschool is not just a job to me. It’s a daily adventure filled with endless possibilities. I enjoy watching my students grow and their true personalities shine when they overcome challenges, learn the skills to be successful in school, and make new friends. I could not ask for a better career!”
Cortney has been with Bright Future Preschool since 2020. She grew up with her parents and two younger siblings in Thornton. At Horizon high school she completed the Teacher Cadet Program, and her love of teaching only grew from there. Cortney currently attends the University of Colorado where she is pursuing her degree in Inclusive Early Childhood Education. When she’s not teaching at Bright Future Preschool she coaches diving and loves fishing and camping and enjoying all of the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer!
"As a new teacher, I have been enjoying getting to know and understand the children on their learning journey. I am so thankful that every day offers a new chance to discover the joys of teaching. I am so thankful to begin my career at Bright Future Preschool, I love being part of this community.”
Communicating with parents is one of our top priorities!
Nope! Joining our waitlist just puts your name on the list so that we can contact you if a spot becomes available.
We follow the Adams 12 policy for snow days. If Adams 12 is closed for weather, we will also be closed.
Bright Future uses the Love and Logic method for behavior management. It is a positive discipline approach and turns child misbehavior into learning opportunities. To learn more about Love and Logic, please visit www.loveandlogic.com.
Yes. Please refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more about our sick policy. Because our students always have contact with the same group of twelve children, we can limit and contain infections if parents take responsibility for ensuring the health of their children.
Bright Future is run specifically as a school and does not offer full-day childcare. Most families who send their child to Bright Future have a stay-at-home parent or a parent who works from home.
We welcome parent volunteers for our classes! Most of our needs are things that volunteers can be done at their home.
Bright Future does not require that children be potty trained to attend preschool classes. We have had many academically gifted students who have not yet been potty trained.
Yes! Every year we offer several family field trips that complement our learning program at school. We host family parties during the holidays and for our year-end graduation ceremony.
Bright Future works to offer first class service to its clients. Following are some of our distinguishing characteristics: Inviting environment: Bright Future offers a home environment rather than an institutional environment for young students. Bright Future's facilities are located in a custom designed walkout basement in a home at Wright Farms. The classroom has been especially designed to meet the standards set forth by State Licensing and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Small Class Sizes: Bright Future takes a maximum of twelve students for each class. Your child will attend school with the same group of children each day, so a sense of community develops among the students and their parents. Well-Trained Staff: Shannon Avila, Bright Future Preschool's Owner and Teacher has a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, with over 20 years of teaching experience. Communication: Bright Future strives to provide detailed information about your child's learning program so you can be involved in your child's learning process. Parents receive monthly newsletters and activity calendars. In addition, this website offers information updates about the preschool. High Quality Standards: Bright Future is committed to exceeding state licensing standards and meets the highest standards in early childhood education as set forth by National Accreditation Agencies.
Taking a tour is the best way to learn about our staff, program, and space. It allows you to imagine your child’s day and learning experience at our school.
